Paul Eugene Cantrell

Walhalla, SC — Paul Eugene Cantrell, 78, husband of Brenda Darol Cantrell, of 105 South Pine Street, Walhalla, formerly of 716 Playground Rd, Walhalla, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2020, at his residence.

 

A native of Oconee County, Mr. Cantrell was the son of the late Jess Elizabeth Cantrell and Janie Mae Smith Cantrell. He was a builder for over 40 years and retired as the owner of Cantrell Construction Company. Mr. Cantrell loved raising cattle and hunting. He was of the Baptist Faith and a member of Rocky Knoll Baptist Church. The family would like to give special thanks to St. John’s Lutheran Church for their continued support of the family. The Rev. Dr. Rachel Connelly will be officiating the service.

 

In addition to his wife, Mr. Cantrell is survived by his son: Paul Eugene Cantrell, II of Walhalla; daughters: Annette Ivester (Don) of Carnesville, GA and Misty Leigh Gilliam (Allen) of Westminster; grandson raised in the home: Dusty Cantrell (Tonia) of Walhalla; grandchildren: Randy Bolding (Torie), Isaac Ivester, Miley Ivester and Hayden Gilliam; great-grandchildren: Dusty G. Cantrell, Adrianna Jaden Cantrell and Natalie Bolding; sister-in-law: Linda Humphries; nephew: Michael Humphries; brothers: Johnny Cantrell of Walhalla and Burris Cantrell of Greenville; and sisters: Barbara Burrell of Walhalla and Sandra Burrell (Ronnie) of Salem.

 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Cantrell was preceded in death by his daughter: Fonda Darol Bolding; brothers: B.C. Cantrell, Leon Cantrell, J.D. Cantrell and Ray Cantrell; and sisters: Rachel Reid and Jessie Siss Winkler.

 

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at Davenport Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Oconee Memorial Park.

 

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at Davenport Funeral Home.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 301 W. Main Street, Walhalla, SC 29691.
