18-wheeler ensnared by low-hanging utility wire

Telephone repairmen will likely go to work today on Walhalla’s N. Poplar Street, where there was an unusual mishap.  About 6 o’clock last evening, an 18-wheeler truck got hung up in a low-hanging utility line.  Walhalla Fire Department responded and, when asked, how they separated the large truck from the line, a fire fighter responded, “Trade secret.”

Conservation bank funds for more than 400 acres

Oconee County Council approved over $145,000 in funding from the conservation land bank that will protect over 400 acres of land from future environmentally troublesome development.
