Public comment encouraged about a narrow Walhalla street

Before Walhalla leaders undertake any changes to a short, narrow downtown street, they want to hear from the public, including people whose businesses might be impacted.  Brent Taylor, city administrator, recommended last night that the city invite the comment during a meeting early next month.  Details are to follow.  At a meeting last night, Taylor reminded the mayor and council that the idea to make changes affecting S. Catherine Street, between Main and Broad streets, has gone no farther than the discussion stage among city officials.  The city has a few options.  They can leave the one-block of S. Katherine as is. Another is eliminating parallel parking on the business side of the block, as a way to allow traffic both ways more room to maneuver.  Still another option is the idea of making the one-block section of S. Katherine one-way.
