The Sheriff’s Office began its investigation on July 12th after a deputy from the Uniform Patrol Bureau spoke with a family member of the teenage victim regarding allegations of a sexual assault.  The investigation was turned over an Investigator from the Criminal Investigations Bureau.

As a result of the evidence obtained during the investigation, Derrick has been charged with engaging in sexual conduct with the victim as well as physically forcing the victim to perform a sex act upon him, as the minor was a victim of aggravated coercion, according to arrest warrants.

The incidents occurred during 2021, according to the arrest warrants.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation and in order to preserve the integrity of the investigation, and that of the victim, the Sheriff’s Office will not release any information that could, in any way, identify the minor in this case.
