Arrest in child sex crime investigation

A 30-year old Oconee man stands accused of multiple sex crimes against children after his arrest at his home Tuesday near highway 59.  The sheriff’s office identified Cory Donovan Simpson as charged with sexual exploitation of a minor second degree.  Besides the sheriff’s office, the investigation involved the Anderson Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Homeland Security.  According to the Oconee Sheriff’s Office, the investigation arose from cyber tips involving the possession and distribution of child sexual materials including attempts to blackmail children to make money.
