Approval for new Lake Keowee residential marina

A government agency has authorized a new residential marina on Lake Keowee at the Seneca end of the lake near the 123 By-Pass.  Approval by “FERC”—the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission—comes on an application by Duke Energy on behalf of Kensington Estates.  The marina project, covering about one-half acre of land and water, is classified under the shoreline management plan for a future marina.  The approval order will require Duke Energy, as licensee, to specify that Kensington Estates at Keowee “must not unduly restrict public access” and, within two years, the licensee also must file a construction completion report.  If construction is not finished, a time extension must be filed.
