Animal mistreatment alleged near Salem

The first inkling of something wrong at a home near Salem came to the Oconee Sheriff’s Office last week.  The result?  A 29-year old woman faces multiple charges of ill treatment of animals.  Kristin Elaine Galloway is charged with 17 counts of ill treatment of animals.  The sheriff’s office released this account: “An Animal Control Officer responded to an address on Stamp Creek Road on Tuesday morning….in regard to a report of a dog attacking livestock and killing some chickens.  Based upon information that the Animal Control Officer received, the dog ran across the street to a separate address on Stamp Creek Road.  After arriving on scene to search for the dog, the Officer observed other dogs on the property who did not have proper care or treatment, which included being underweight or without clean drinking water or without adequate shelter.”  Officers seized 17 dogs, 13 adult dogs, and four puppies.
