An opening in time for the holiday weekend

Staring tomorrow, the Seneca Creek Access Area on Lake Hartwell, at 280
Seneca Creek Road in Seneca, will re-open to the public.  The upgraded facility now provides a three-lane boat ramp, two courtesy docks, a fishing pier, a kayak launch and a picnic area. The Seneca Creek Access Area consists of 49 boat and 20 single vehicle parking spaces. ““We are extremely excited to be able to open the renovated Seneca Creek Access Area”, says Phil Shirley, Director of Parks, Recreation & Tourism for Oconee
County. “We experienced several uncontrollable delays throughout the construction process. We appreciate the patience from the public and look forward to having all amenities open very soon.” The ADA restrooms at the site will remain closed until final utility connection at a later date. While there is a small chance that a temporary closure may be necessary for final utility connections, Oconee County intends to notify the public and allow access to the area as reasonably possible. The Seneca Creek Access Area closed to the public on January 4, 2022 for site improvements. Originally projected to be completed in phases, various resources allowed for completion of the project in its entirety. Oconee County invested more than $1.5 million to upgrade the Seneca Creek Access Area, as well as $1.5 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds, $300,000 from the Lake Hartwell Settlement Fund and $325,000 from the Oconee County Water Recreation Resource Fund, through the Oconee Legislative Delegation. The Seneca Creek Access Area will be open from daylight to dusk and there is currently no fee to utilize the amenities.
