Advisory panel hasn’t meet in two-plus years, council told

Oconee County Council was told on Friday that one of its advisory panels hasn’t held a meeting in more than two years, and the council should investigate. During council’s public comment period on Friday, the suspended councilman—Matthew Durham of District Two—said he had spoken with his district’s representative on the county aeronautics commission about the failure of the commission to have held a meeting since April 2020—the month following the shutdown created by the COVID virus.  Durham urged the council to look at the matter as the aeronautics commission, he said, are the eyes and the ears of the council at Oconee’s regional airport.
