Adaptive bicycles for kids, a new project for local Rotarians

Inspired by a recent meeting program, the Walhalla Rotary Club has started a fundraising project to make adaptive bicycles available to local schools.  The Rotarians have chosen James Brown Elementary School to be the first recipient of a bike designed for children with mobility disabilities who often don’t get a lot of physical exercise.  Just one bike costs $4 thousand, and the Rotarians are hoping that members of the public will help them raise what’s needed.  One big way to help is for individuals and employers to sponsor a table when the Rotary Club holds a luncheon Friday, October 20 under the Big Tent at Sertoma Field, as part of ceremonies opening the three-day Oktoberfest weekend.  To become a sponsor, please call Rotarian Meghan Ketterman at 864/903-1730.  Ketterman also serves as the District Two member of the Oconee School Board.
