“Above-average” crowds at weekend festival

Nature was kind this weekend to Walhalla’s celebration of its German roots.  Stacy Jackson of the Oktoberfest Committee called “above-average” the crowds over three days, although exact numbers of paid admissions won’t be known until the committee meets next month.  The crowds may have been held down somewhat by the Clemson home game and the Seneca at Walhalla game the night before. Nevertheless, Jackson believes, the proceeds will be such that the volunteer committee will go into the 2023 year in good financial position.  Once again, some of the staples at Sertoma Field proved popular including the carnival rides, the Saturday night fireworks, the beer tent, and the band playing a lot of “oompah” music which was pleasing to the ear and helped limber up dancers’ feet under the big tent.
