A therapy canine arrives at a fire and EMS station

Penrose, known as Penny, is a six-month old Bernedoodle.  She is the first therapy canine to join the K-9 program to support the mental health and well-being of the fire fighters in the Clemson University Fire and EMS Department.  The name Penrose was chosen to honor A-W Penrose, the captain of the first fire engine when the department was established in 1927 at Clemson College. Penny’s handlers are Lt. Jim Thackston and Sgt. Jennifer Thackston.
