A request unthaw the freeze

At its meeting tomorrow night, Oconee County Council is scheduled to consider a request by county staff to re-evaluate a hiring freeze that prevents the county from filling as many as 17 positions.  They would be to cover vacancies that have occurred because of retirement, what are called alternative employment opportunities and other circumstances.  If Council say yes to all 17, salary and fringe benefits will total nearly $870 thousand and fill spots in the following departments:  PRT, Planning, Roads and Bridges, and Solid Waste.
