A push for Seneca to acquire school building and property

A decision may be reached next month on what happens to the Seneca Middle School on WS 4th Extension, as its days are numbered before a replacement complex is occupied on the Wells Highway.  94.1 The Lake WSNW quotes Mayor Pro-tem Ronnie O’Kelley as saying Seneca’s school trustee, Dr. Sandra Sloan, intends to make disposition of the current Seneca Middle School an agenda item when the county trustees hold their December meeting. This week Lee Sheehan of Seneca urged the trustees to allow the city to take over the building and property so that it can transform it into recreation facilities.  According to Sheehan, the city recreation department has run out of space to meet the needs of the hundreds of children who register for the city’s sports teams.  Sheehan also announced that 500 petition signatures were obtained over four days, supporting Seneca’s bid for the properties.
