A new West Union policy

West Union’s elected leaders are taking a sympathetic approach to the difficulty that a small business owner faces in getting established and avoiding having to close.  At issue last night was whether the town should contribute public money to help pay for a $1,600 dollar sign for a new Main Street business, a boutique.  Town attorney Mary McCormac advised the mayor and council that there should be a written policy, and McCormac was directed to write the policy.  Councilman Boyd Nicholson asked what might happen if a business that the town financially helps goes out.  Does the city get to recover some its investment, Nicholson wondered.
