A new RFP for a Lake Hartwell peninsula

At the state Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism in Columbia, it is back to work on the future of a valuable Lake Hartwell peninsula inside Oconee County.  A spokeswoman for the PRT, Samantha Queen, says, “We are working on a new RFP (Request for Proposals) now and we anticipate it being out in late spring or early summer.”  The property takes in 325 acres and is considered prime for development, as it sits just off I-85 practically midway between Atlanta and Charlotte.  Until about a year ago, a group pursuing its Sanctuary Pointe development held a sublease on the property, but lost it after being unable to come through with its plans.
