$430K-plus expenditure at county level

After a closed-door meeting, Oconee County Council responded last night with an expenditure to enhance the safety of its law enforcement officers.  The council unanimously approved the purchase of some $430 thousand dollars’ worth of door armor and ballistic glass to help protect personnel from gunfire – as was evidence late last year when a young deputy was seriously wounded in gunfire as part of a car chase.  The protective equipment supplier is identified as Dana Safety Company of Greensboro, North Carolina.
