Zooming in on Oconee re-districting

You can’t play the game of politics without knowing where the geographical boundaries lie.  Monday night, Oconee NAACP and the League of Women Voters held a virtual forum on re-districting that featured presentations by David Root and John Ruoff.  Root is the attorney for Oconee County; Dr. Ruoff is considered an expert when it comes to the subject.  Jody Gaulin, chairwoman of Oconee Democrats, said both men made excellent remarks on county’s duty in 2022 to ensure that the county’s five council and school districts approximate close populations and do not violate the doctrine of one-man, one-vote. Her counterpart, David McMahan of the county Republicans, offered his thoughts about a change that could be made to one particular precinct, West Union.  Their comments are being aired today on 101.7/WGOG NEWS.
