Yousef Mefleh

Westminster- Yousef Abdulhamid Mefleh, 67, husband of Susan Kelley Mefleh, passed away, Saturday, August 20, 2022, at his residence.

 

Born in Jerusalem, he was the son of the late Abdulhamid Yousef Mefleh and Mariam Yousef Yasin.  Yousef came to Oconee County, in 1975, where he began working at the Walhalla Steak House, the Westminster Hotel Restaurant, and also at BJ’s Cafeteria in Clayton, Georgia. But what Yousef was known for in the community was Yousef’s Kitchen which he opened in 1985. Yousef was currently serving as a city councilman for the City of Westminster since 2014, and was known as an amazing father, grandfather, businessman. The love Yousef had for his family and his country was one that was indescribable, he was dedicated to both and showed great compassion to anyone. He never met a stranger and considered everyone that he knew as family.    

 

Yousef is survived by his wife, Susan Kelley Mefleh; son, Abed Mefleh of Westminster; daughters, Meriam Smith (Matt) of  Anderson, Tracy Nichols of Westminster, Krystal Bowen of Seneca; siblings, Nedal Mefleh (Jeanne), Nizam Mefleh (Mariam), Talghreed Mefleh, Maqadas Mefleh, Omayma Mefleh, Eman Mefleh, Rafey Mefleh (Lubna), Hana Mefleh (Motauson), Mogdas Mefleh; nine grandsons and three granddaughters. 

 

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm, Tuesday, August 23rd, 2022 at the Westminster First Baptist Life Center with burial to follow at First Baptist Memorial Park. The body will lie in state at the Westminster First Baptist Life Center, 9:00 am – 2:30, Tuesday, August 23rd, 2022 prior to the service.
