Young woman fatal crash victim

The coroner says a 28-year old West Union woman died this morning at the scene of a multi-vehicle accident near her hometown.  Coroner Addis says the woman’s name will be released later today.  Will Bates, interim Walhalla fire chief, says the scene was SC 28/Blue Ridge Blvd., at the West Union Road juncture and as many as four people were hurt and taken to hospitals.  Public safety responders say it involved a car, a van, and a small truck.  SC 28 traffic headed from Seneca to Walhalla was being detoured onto the West Union Road. As employees at the nearby Lowe’s Electric pointed out to 101.7/WGOG, the turn junction has been the scene of many accidents during the last 15 or so years, including an accident in early 2020 that took the life of an 11-year car passenger.
