YMCA construction proceeding “nicely,” says executive director

All you have to do is to take a look at the progress construction workers are making on the Foothills YMCA on the grounds of the Oconee hospital and you realize it’s not a stretch to imagine the complex could be ready by early 2020. January or February, is the belief of Christle Ross, the “Y” executive director. Concrete is being set for the indoor pool and grass is being seeded for the outdoor fields. One of the project’s financial contributors is the county public schools, and the goal of the “Y” is to offer the use of the aquatic center for elementary school age swimming instruction. But the aquatic facility is also envisioned as a setting for Oconee high schools to host swimming competition among high school teams.
