Yesterday’s quake was followed by aftershock

If you were in the Seneca area or in northeast Georgia around 4:15 yesterday morning, you may have been rattled from your sleep. An earthquake rumbled through our area. According to the U-S Geologic Survey, the epicenter of 4.4 magnitude quake was just north of Chattanooga, Tennessee. USGS recorded an aftershock about 13 minutes later that registered 3.3. Toccoa’s WNEG quotes Eastanollee resident Stan McFarland: “Last night I was awakened by a noise and I wasn’t really sure what it was. I thought maybe my wife was doing something in the kitchen, so I got up and didn’t see anything unusual, but when I went into the dining room and saw some of our Christmas china cups and a couple of vases on the table that had been overturned. I went to bed and noticed the time was about 4:15a.”
