Wrongful death claim filed for Shirley Neimeyer

Law enforcement authorities have alleged that a young Easley man drove a car while fleeing the highway patrol last summer and crashed into an Oconee home killing a woman who was asleep. El Asia Hassain Muhammed was jailed and awaits trial on multiple charges, including failure to stop for a blue light and leaving the scene of an accident involving death. The mother of the deceased sleeper has filed a civil lawsuit against the South Carolina Public Safety Department, alleging a trooper drove at high speeds “far exceeding the posted speed limit….” The lawsuit does not identify the trooper by name. The crash took the life of Vanessa Neimeyer. The lawsuit alleging negligence and wrongful death was filed today in the Common Pleas Court and lists Shirley Neimeyer, mother of the deceased, as the plaintiff and personal representative of her daughter’s estate. It seeks an unspecified amount of damages and requests a jury trial.
