Work to get started on new comprehensive plan

Work is to get started in earnest on the next comprehensive plan for Oconee County. It’s called the 2020 Comprehensive Plan and it is to be developed to reflect community goals and aspirations. An outside firm is being contracted by Oconee County to write the plan with input from the county planning commission and the public. From county planner Adam Chapman, the planning commissioners last night received an outline of what’s ahead. From the audience, they also heard Jim Codner recommend that, along with a new comprehensive plan, the county should update its land use map. Codner says the one that now hangs in county council chambers is about 20 years old.
