Willie Mae King Oliver

Walhalla, SC — Willie Mae King Oliver, 79, wife of the late John Alvin Oliver, was a Member of Mountain View Baptist and rejoiced at the greeting of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 16, 2021.

 

A native of Oconee County, Mrs. Oliver was the daughter of the late William “Bill” Christopher and Emma Elise Turner King. In 1964, she attended the National School of Dress Design and was well known for her sewing, upholstering, and needlepoint skills. In addition, she was a homemaker, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, niece, and aunt; to her family she will be remembered as always ready for a challenge and as one of the strongest women they have ever known.

 

Mrs. Oliver is survived by her son, Mark Oliver and fiancé Karen Brown of Walhalla; nephew, Michael King and wife, Kathy of Westminster; brothers, James King (Sarah) of Walhalla, Verner King of Tamassee, Johnny King (Alice) of Walhalla, Howard King (Shirley) of Walhalla along with many nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Oliver was predeceased by her brother, George Walter King, sisters, Betty Jo Holcombe and Mary Sue King, and nephew, Pastor David Wesley King.

 

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

 

The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM, prior to the service, at Davenport Funeral Home.

 

Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the Potter’s House Church, 311 South John Street, Walhalla, SC 29691.

 

The family is at their respective homes.
