William Paul Raines

 

Walhalla, SC– William Paul Raines, 77, husband of Judy Raines, of Walhalla, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at the Cottingham Hospice House.

 

Born April 2, 1946, in Greenville, SC, Paul was the son of the late Rev. Carl Henry and Helen Singleton Raines. Paul graduated from Walhalla High School in 1964, where he was quarterback of the Walhalla Razorbacks Football Team. Paul later retired from Duke Power as an Electrical Warehouse Materials Supervisor. Paul was a Minister of Music for over 50 years, having led music at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Beaverdam Baptist Church, Temple Baptist Church, Walhalla First Baptist Church and many other churches across South Carolina.

 

In addition to his wife, Paul is survived by his sons: Chris Raines (Cookie) of Blacksburg, SC and Chad Mason (Christi) of West Union, SC; daughter: Page Fowler Dixon of Beaufort, SC; brother: Alan Raines of Greenwood, SC; grandchildren: Will Raines (Madison) of Spartanburg, SC, Alex Raines (Stevie) of Greer, SC, Hunter Mason of West Union, SC, Lauren Dixon of Beaufort, SC and Wales S. Dixon IV of Spartanburg, SC; great-grandchildren: Jackson and Jonathan Raines and Beau Raines; and special niece: Anna Sanders (Cody) and great-nephew: Ridge Mac Sanders.

 

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his sister: Jane Jones.

 

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Walhalla First Baptist Church with burial to follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

 

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00 PM, Wednesday, prior to the service, at Walhalla First Baptist Church.

The family will be at their respective homes.
