Why five men are vital to Walhalla’s drinking water

As Walhalla starts to transition from a 60-year old treatment plant to one that’ll draw raw water from a clear and freshwater lake, there’s concern in the county seat as to just who will be there to run it. The coronavirus pandemic forced Greenville to virtually quarantine that city’s full-time staff which has had the effect of eliminating Walhalla’s part-time staff. Walhalla has run into difficulty trying to fill a full-time water plant operator’s job. There’s hope that two additional persons will qualify as operators by the fall. For now, however, the Walhalla water plant organization chart numbers only five persons: Scott Parris, Tim Borrow, Thomas Crooks, Joe Head, and Rick O’Kelley.
