Why David McMahan is a happy man

The first-year chairman of Oconee Republicans, David McMahan, was in a good mood last night when he spoke to the county school trustees and commended them for their views opposing efforts to incorporate critical race theory into the district curriculum.  McMahan, like other public comment speakers before him, gave credit to Journal newspaper for its series of articles about a movement that espouses the theory that race is a culturally invented category to oppress people of color and that U-S institutions are inherently racist.  McMahan said that Republicans representing the state executive committee of their party are unanimous in their opposition to teaching critical race theory and he’s hopeful for the prospects of a new state will have “teeth” enough to outlaw CRT from being taught in the schools.
