Why an idle business jet sits out in the open at the airport

A disabled business jet sits out in the open at the Oconee airport, and soon a tent will cover the airplane while repair work is done on the craft. Jeff Garrison, airport manager, gave an explanation last week to the county aeronautics commissioners. During a recent heavy rain, a Gulfstream G4 taxied in, made a turn and, as Garrison explained, the left main wheel dropped off in the grass—and stuck there. And there it sits temporarily as the Gulfstream manufacturer is allowed to inspect the plane before flies away. And because the tent that will be erected to cover the plane and work area, the FAA will be required to sign off that the 45 foot height of the tent will not interference with other air ground traffic.
