Why a Serbian native could be key for South Carolina peaches

A horticulture expert at Clemson University took an unusual path to her professorship.  The patented variations of Ksenija Gasic could help solve the problems plaguing the South Carolina peach industry.  In a profile of the Clemson Research Foundation, Gasic is seen picking a peach at the Musser Fruit Research Center in the Friendship Community of Oconee County.  She grew up in a small village in the European country of Serbia.  But it was a fellowship to go to England for a year of peaches research that changed Gasic’s trajectory.
