Where hazardous driving conditions appear first

The potential that the weekend storm will create black ice has prompted the South Carolina DOT to point out that that accumulation will appear first on bridges and overpasses.  They should be approached with caution.  Christy Hall, the state’s transportation secretary, says, “The safest solution is for drivers to stay off the roads if at all possible.  If you must drive, slow down and watch for crews performing de-icing and plowing operations.”  Salt spreaders and snowplows move at slow speeds to completely cover the roadways.
