What the Sheriff wants during the next year

Oconee is a growing county, but increases in population and the business base aren’t always good things. For instance, more people and more activity can lead to more crime. To keep a handle on more crime, Sheriff Mike Crenshaw is hopeful that county government will allow him to start to add one deputy sheriff every year. He also would like the County Council to raise the pay of his employees. Crenshaw told reporters today that his employees are among the lowest paid in the Upstate. That’s not to say that Crenshaw is not appreciative of what the council has done for his office in recent years—such as raising starting salaries and awarding longevity.
