What about us, say Keowee school supporters

Seneca Middle School will be the next public school built in Oconee County.  But those who support a small rural elementary school say their turn should be next.  On behalf of the school improvement council at Keowee Elementary School, teacher Elizabeth Bost urged the county trustees to make “a specific plan of action” toward building a new Keowee Elementary School.  Bost stressed the importance of 21st century facilities to replace a sprawling complex of campus buildings, built in both the 1950s and 80s.  In a letter read at last night’s trustees’ meeting, Bost said she and other Keowee school supporters have no interest in seeing their community school combined with a larger school.  Denise McCormick, chairwoman of the board of trustees, acknowledged the plea by attempting to assure Keowee Elementary supporters that the board will soon conduct a regularly held retreat session and has future plans for periods of five and ten years.
