Westminster’s Juneteenth to draw around 100

The grounds of Westminster’s Magnolia Manor will be the setting next week for the city’s first celebration of Juneteenth.  The country’s 11th federal holiday is Wednesday, June 19, and organizers of the luncheon have a head count of around 100 people to attend.  The featured speaker will be a UNC-Charlotte professor, Dr. Sonia Ramsey.  Her mom grew up in Westminster. Long-time residents Andrea Harbin and Shawn Johnson of the Oconee Branch of the NAACP are among the luncheon planners who are pleased that this first-of-its-kind event is taking place in their home city.
