Westminster’s Cam Hendrix wins “Name the Dog” contest

A fourth grader at Westminster Elementary School, Cam Hendrix, won the “Name the Dog” contest sponsored by the Oconee Sheriff’s Office Foundation.  Cam chose the name “Thor” which is the name of his favorite character from the Avenger movies.  He receives a cash prize of $100 dollars from the foundation.  In all, students entered 1,118 names for the new canine that is going thru weeks of training, with the hope that Thor can join the county’s law enforcement effort late next month.  His handler is deputy sheriff Justin Stokes.
