Westminster strategizes potential power switch

A letter goes today from Westminster to its electric power supplier to position the city for negotiations toward what happens should Westminster eventually enter the market for a new supplier.  At the recommendation of the city administrator, the city council authorized the letter to be sent to the “PMPA”—the group of upstate cities that bought into part of a nuclear reactor.  Bronson stresses the importance of Westminster having voice on what happens and when it happens.  He told the council the key date to keep in mind is 2029, when Westminster could find itself departed from the consortium of “PMPA” cities.  And he said the end of 2028, so far as nailing down an electric power supply, will arrive faster than can be imagined.  A further explanation of the letter reads:  “The letter enables the City’s appointed Board Director to participate in discussions related to future power provision and serve on any committee as may be authorized by the PMPA Board.  It does not obligate the City to future purchase power agreements.”
