Westminster gets complaint over proposed rate increase

Tuesday, June 11 is the date that Westminster will trot out its proposed budget for a new year of city operations. And that’s the evening that Mayor Brian Ramey says members of the public are invited to speak out at the official budget hearing. The mayor and the city council are already hearing from one water customer who claims customers face propping up the general fund due to—what he says—is the inability of the city to live within its means. So far, Westminster’s elected leaders are choosing increasing water rates, both in and outside the city, during the first year that the city will be without Pioneer Rural Water District as a customer. Pioneer has completed its own treatment plant and will dedicate the facility during a ceremony today.
