Westminster delegation returns from Columbia visit

For one, the Westminster mayor says he is better off having taken two days for a trip this week to the state capital. And Mayor Brian Ramey says he believes the four city council members who went are also now in a better position to govern from the local level. They went for training at the State Municipal Association and for a legislative day at the General Assembly. Besides the mayor, taking part were Westminster council members Jimmy Powell, A-T Caywood, Ronald Dotson, and Susan Ramey. Mayor Ramey says the trip to the State House was especially enlightening, to know that much that is done on the state level affects local government. In Westminster’s case, for example, the mayor learned about a utility relocation bill in the Senate that is important to his city.
