West Union’s Meeks and Moore to serve four-year terms

To clear up a West Union election result quandary, Mayor Linda Oliver resorted to a free online spinner tool that creates a digital wheel to make decisions. And that wheel spun the names of her town’s four council candidates and the first two names spit out were those of incumbents Doug Moore and Dixie Meeks. So, Moore and Meeks will serve four-year terms, while the two other winners—Bethany James and Kathy Frederick—will serve two years. That puts West Union elected officials on staggered terms and means that the terms of James and Frederick will expire in two years, requiring the town’s next election.
