West Union on the way toward a community center

In a special meeting, West Union Town Council this morning agreed to buy the building and property at 1210 W. Main Street. And the town has a plan for the property. It’s the intent, says Mayor Linda Oliver, to turn the building into West Union’s first community center. On a motion by the mayor, and a second by Doug Moore, the council agreed to pay Brenda Hanvey $25 thousand for the building and the 1.2 acres. A second council member, Bethany James, indicated her support for the project by casting the third vote in favor. The vote was 3-0.
