“We are serving as a bank for Oconee County”–Eleazer

As the Oconee sewer commissioners think over the debt they will likely accrue to address capital improvement projects, they’ve been given a suggestion how they could further improve their standing with the financial world.  Hesitant as he was to bring it up Chris Eleazer, JRSA executive director, said it might be wise for the Joint Regional Sewer Authority to press Oconee County government for the $1.5 million that is being held in an account for the Sewer South project.  The release of those monies could enhance the current standing of the JRSA in the financial markets.  As Walhalla’s Scott Parris put it, the JRSA is seen a poor risk.  Eleazer’s comments led to a decision for the JRSA’s finance committee to address the $1.5 million issue at its next meeting.
