Water quality stands “met without exception”

An ecologist for the federal government told Duke Energy this week that its monitoring for dissolved oxygen concentrations in the tailwaters of both the Keowee Hydro Station and the Jocassee Pumped Storage Station met water quality standards without exception.  Duke monitored the tailwaters in August.   Ben Turetsky of FOLKS–Friends of Lake Keowee–says dissolved oxygen levels are important because low concentrations can lead to fish kills.  In a letter to Duke’s Jeff Lineberger, Andrea Claros of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission said Duke’s water quality report met the 2017 requirement and the next report won’t be due until late next year.
