Walhalla to qualify for road and sidewalk monies

The Oconee State “C” Fund Committee assured the Walhalla city administrator today that his city may qualify for money thru the DOT to re-pave streets and sidewalks. The committee requested Brandon Burton, the city administrator,  to prioritize Walhalla’s  needs and document why “C” fund monies should be applied to them.  The prospects appear good.  Sam Dickson, the committee chairman, said, “We are due to spend some money in Walhalla.”  And, according to financial reports at today’s meeting, the “C” Fund’s bank account is growing.  Dickson announced an additional $1.1 million has been approved to come to Oconee from the state level, from a total of $50 million that’s available to county “C” Fund committee across the rest of the state.  Pressed the by the committee to prioritize the city’s wants, Burton identified sidewalk repairs on Main Street and re-paving S. Laurel and S. Poplar as the city’s top two road re-surfacing priorities.
