Walhalla steps up diversity and inclusion

On the evening of Thursday, July 2, Walhalla will take another step to form its diversity and inclusion committee by inviting city residents to come and take part in a meeting to be attended by the city council, the police chief, and city staff.  The meeting will take place at the Depot and start at 6 o’clock that evening.  Mayor Edwards says, “We all should appreciate the diversity of our city because it is a strength we can build on and not a weakness.”  After this meeting, according to the announcement, the committee will be formed to create a path that fosters an environment “so that more people feel welcomed to participate in shaping the future of Walhalla which will make it an even more enjoyable place to live.”  Anyone interested in serving on the committee may complete an application on the city’s website or at the July 2 meeting.  The meeting will be open for the public to speak.  Those attending wqill be expected to wear masks and to practice social distancing.  For those not attending in person, the meeting can be followed by Zoom, the link for which will be posted on the website and Facebook.
