Walhalla mayor to seek legal opinion from the state

Walhalla Mayor Danny Edwards will approach the South Carolina Attorney General for an opinion to clear up questions raised Tuesday night by Councilman Dennis Owens about whether the imposition of a curfew could violate the rights of someone permitted to carry a gun.  Edwards directed the following announcement this afternoon to Walhallans:  “Today I plan to ask the South Carolina Attorney General to issue an opinion so that we can be sure that no one’s 2nd amendment rights are violated.  If it is necessary to change the wording, I will recommend to council that we do so.  Please keep in mind this would only be used in case of a natural disaster or when a protest turns into a violent situation.”
