Walhalla leaders reminded that Monday is a national holiday

A Walhalla woman active in city and county endeavors reminded the mayor and the council last night that a federal holiday is only days away, and the day will represent a chance to everyone to do something to better their communities. Monday, January 21 is set aside to remember the birth of Dr. Martin Luther King, who preached non violence to bring the races together. King was assassinated in 1968 as he was leading a march striking sanitation workers in Memphis, Tennessee. Last night Sarai Menendez called attention to the holiday, and urged the mayor and council to consider a project or act of service to benefit the community and its residents.
