Re-zoning recommended in Seneca

An Easley man has cleared a hurdle at Seneca City Hall toward his plan to build five new homes on Northampton Road near the water tower. Seneca Planning Commission last night voted unanimously to recommend a zoning change for 20 acres belonging to Crescent Communities. Provided city council approves, James Nichols will be allowed to subdivide the acreage for five stick-built houses. The property is now zoned for planned development unit, but Nichols assured the planning commissioners that he has no intent to build multi-family housing. The hearing attracted a near capacity audience at City Hall. Many of the attendees were from the nearby Normandy Shores home development. Some had questions, such as a representative of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension who asked for a copy of the plans so that her church can evaluate how the five new homes will sit in relation to the church.
