Vulnerable adult was the crime victim

A woman admitted her guilt today in a case in which an elderly adult was the crime victim in an Oconee General Sessions Court case.  In the case prosecuted by the office of the state Attorney’s General, defendant Chanda Sargent was sentenced to five years in prison, suspended to five years’ probation, with the requirement that she be placed under house arrest for 18 months.  Ken Moore, assistant attorney general, described exploitation of a vulnerable adult and financial transaction card fraud as crimes that netted the defendant $300 thousand in a scheme outlined in front of General Sessions Judge Cordell Maddox.  To effect the crimes, the court was told, Sargent used a power of attorney over the victim, a relation to her.
