Voters group wants fair constituency maps

The League of Women Voters is no fan of a political maneuver called gerrymandering—when a politician’s constituent boundaries are manipulated to favor one party or class. And in the middle of next month the Clemson LWV invites the public for a meeting on “Where are We on Re-districting in South Carolina.” The meeting will be 7:15 Tuesday night, October 15 at the OLLI building in Clemson. According to the LWV, a Supreme Court decision last year set back efforts for fair maps. The meeting announcement states: “We will review recent events and plans going forward to ensure fair maps in South Carolina and nationally….”
