Volunteers create Westminster park

On a sunshine, blue sky day across Oconee, Westminster may shine the brightest. Volunteers are converting a vacant corner spot downtown into a park.  Spearheading the work are the members of this year’s Oconee Leadership Class.  The class president, Jennifer Moss, says trees and shrubs are being planted today.  Next week the class will add small perennials.  The park at Main and Retreat is small, but Mayor Brian Ramey sees potential.  “It’ll make downtown more appealing and give people more reason to shop and stay in downtown,” the mayor said.
